The Cape Coral City Hall is a 91,000–square foot, two-story civic building located on a 20-acre site on the west coast of Florida. The master plan places the new city hall adjacent to the existing facility, while maintaining a landscaped, green park for future city development. The building itself accommodates a 250-seat city council chamber and auditorium, the mayor’s office, the city clerk, the city attorney and city manager offices, community development offices, and other related city functions.
The building façade will consist of split-face block and glass, consistent with adjacent city and federal buildings. DMJM is responsible for master planning, programming, architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, and interior design. A 9,000–square foot, stand-alone emergency operations center (EOC) is also included on the site. The EOC features separate staging areas for fire and police emergency response, a media room, and a 911 call center. The EOC is fully computerized, with provisions for fiber optic links to other agencies. |
