The first state-funded building on campus in nearly 25 years, the James L. Welch Hall accommodates Cal State Dominguez Hills’ growing enrollment. Situated on the northern side of the campus, the four-story, 165,000–square foot hall houses the School of Health, student services, and the computer center, and features dedicated classrooms and laboratories for the clinical science and public health departments. The building is a post-tension concrete structure with rectangular floor plates and circulation that is organized around an inner courtyard. The first floor accommodates computer-based instruction and houses mediated-instruction classrooms, nine computer-based laboratories, two workstation rooms, and a 250-seat symposium center. The second floor offers centralized student services, including financial aid, registration, course applications, and transcripts. The third floor is dedicated solely to the School of Health, and the fourth floor houses administrative offices, including faculty members, department heads, and the university president and vice president. |
