131st Fighter Wing, Missouri Air National Guard
Master Plan

Lambert–St. Louis International Airport, Missouri

As part of a $2.5 billion expansion project at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport in Missouri, large tracts of land—both currently owned and newly acquired—are scheduled for airport use. The 131st Fighter Wing of the Missouri Air National Guard occupies a 65-acre site that will be needed for the approach to a new runway. To resolve this situation, DMJM prepared a master plan for relocation of the 131st Fighter Wing to its new site at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Project challenges included the small size and awkward shape of the new site. Working with the 131st FW in a number of intense on-site design charrettes, DMJM developed solutions that met the needs of the 131st FW and that fit within the constraints of the site. The high-quality design was validated in 2000, when it received an award as part of the annual U.S. Air Force design awards and recognition program.
