McGuire Air Force Base, Consolidated Flight-Line Operations Facility

New Jersey

<  >

Under an indefinite delivery contract, DMJM is currently providing complete architecture, engineering, and interior design services for the Consolidated Flight-Line Operations Facility (CFOF) and the Maintenance Training Facility (MTF) at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. The CFOF is the first project of its kind for C-17 operations and houses four elements—squadron operations, the aircraft maintenance squadron, life support, and the survival equipment shop. The site design includes a sub-area master plan that responds to the DOD interim force protection standards, and improves base aesthetics by upgrading and relocating aboveground utilities. As a result, four buildings have been brought into compliance with force protection standards and a new, secure flight-line corridor has been created, where only authorized persons and vehicles have flight-line access. The facility was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.

The $6.2 million MTF supports the training operations for the new C-17 mission. The single-story structure with a mechanical mezzanine space has two primary space requirements of high-bay clearance. The building is organized into three zones within an “L” configuration; the classroom zone, the maintenance training device (MTD) zone, and the operations zone.
